Heriberto Mendez

Heriberto R. Mendez, 83, of Lubbock passed away on Tuesday, March 22, 2022. He was born March 26, 1938 in La Pryor, Texas to Ramon and Maria (Vasquez) Mendez. Heriberto grew up in Lubbock and on February 22, 1960 he married Anita Martinez. He was a loving husband, father, brother and grandfather. Heriberto was the rock of the family and taught his children what they should be by his example, his hard work and his faith. He loved music and cars, but most of all he loved caring for his family. Heriberto was a member of San Ramon Catholic Church.

Those left to cherish his memory are his wife of 62 years, Anita; children, Rene Mendez, Diana Valverde (Sigi), Linda Sanders (Sandy), Chris Mendez (Christine) and Robert Mendez (Jamie); brothers, Leo Mendez, Henry Mendez and Ernest Mendez; sisters, Emma Luna and Elida Sandoval; 15 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his son, Michael Mendez ; two brothers, Jesse Mendez and Paul Mendez and two sisters, Cruz Martinez and Edelmira Cordero.

Visitation for Heriberto will be held on Monday, March 28, 2022 from 1-8pm at the Venue on Broadway located at 2202 Broadway with a Rosary being recited at 6pm. Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Tuesday, March 29, 2022 at 10am at San Ramon Catholic Church with interment to follow at Peaceful Gardens Memorial Park under the personal direction of Combest Family Funeral Homes.
