Irene Ramirez-Reyes

With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Irene Ramirez-Reyes, a beloved mother, wife, and community member, who left us on March 22, 2026, in Lorenzo, Texas. Born on February 12, 1966, in Lubbock, Texas, Irene lived a life marked by kindness, humor, and an unwavering warmth that touched all who knew her.

Irene dedicated much of her life to serving her city as a bus driver for the City bus of Lubbock, where she was known not only for her professionalism but also for her welcoming spirit that made every passenger feel at ease. Her kind and genuine nature extended far beyond her work; those close to her remember a woman who had an exceptional sense of humor and a rare ability to brighten any room with her presence.

Family meant everything to Irene. She cherished the moments spent with her loved ones, especially during the holidays, when her warmth and love filled the home with joy and togetherness. Her greatest joys were rooted in the laughter and love of her family, a tight-knit group that continues to hold her memory dear.

Irene is survived by her devoted spouse, Uvence Ruben Ramirez Sr., and her cherished children: Richard Santos Ramirez, Uvence Ruben Ramirez Jr. alongside Patricia, and Anthony Lee Ramirez with Jamie. She was a loving mother and a proud grandmother to thirteen grandchildren and a great-great-grandmother to three precious little ones. Irene’s mother, Guadalupe Aguirre, and her brother, Raymond Reyes, also carry forward her legacy of love and kindness.

She was preceded in death by her grandparents, her father Rosendo Reyes, and her siblings Rickey Reyes, Rosalinda Reyes, Resendo Reyes, and Yrma Reyes-Chavez. Their memories, like hers, are forever etched in the hearts of those who hold her dear.

The community will gather to honor Irene’s life at a Funeral Service to be held on March 27, 2026, from 11:00 a.m. at Venue on Broadway. This service will provide an opportunity to reflect on her remarkable life, to share stories, and to draw strength from one another as we remember a woman who so deeply loved and was loved in return.

Irene Ramirez-Reyes’s warmth, humor, and kindness have left an indelible mark on all who had the privilege of knowing her. She will be profoundly missed, yet her spirit will continue to inspire and comfort her family, friends, and community for years to come.
