Jack M. Peterson, 92, of Lubbock, passed gently from this life and went to be with his Lord and Savior on Friday afternoon, May 1, 2026, surrounded by his loving family. Jack was born on February 2, 1934, in White Earth, Mountrail County, North Dakota, to the late Manley Peterson and Borghild (Leholm) Peterson.
Jack attended White Earth High School, graduating with the senior class of 1952. He furthered his education by attending Electronics Vocational Schooling and Management Training.
Jack met the love of his life, Janice Faye Stapp, and they were united in marriage on April 5, 1956, in Spokane, Washington. Out of this union were two sons, Jay and Jerry. Janice preceded him in death on November 9, 2023.
He served his country by joining the United States Army and was honorably discharged.
Jack began his career with Amerada Petroleum, later becoming Amerada Hess Corporation. He worked in various locations and positions in Texas and North Dakota, including District Superintendent in Midland and Adair Texas. Retiring in North Dakota after 33 years of service.
He loved fishing, eagles and watching the birds from his front window. He was a member of the Lutheran church.
Jack will be remembered for his dedication to his family. His legacy of hard work and love for helping others will always be remembered.
Those left to honor and cherish his memory include his two sons: Jay Peterson and wife Paula of Lubbock, and Jerry Peterson and wife Patricia of Austin. He is also survived by four wonderful grandchildren: Adam (Ceceily), Peterson, of Lubbock, Andrew (Baley) Peterson, of Midland, Kristin Peterson and Joshua Peterson, of Austin and seven great-grandchildren: Charlotte, Wyatt, Makenzi, Braedin, Madeline, Paetin, Krista. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, a brother, John Peterson and a grandson, Matthew Peterson.

A private celebration of Jack’s life will be held later. Cremation arrangements are under the personal care and direction of Combest Family Funeral Homes and Crematory.
