Jackie Lee Bynum passed away on Saturday, June 28, 2025, at the age of 72. He was born on September 15, 1952, to Leland Bynum and Joyce Jones. Jackie was known for his tireless work ethic as a crop adjuster, where he dedicated countless hours in the field with unmatched diligence and pride in his craftmanship.
To most, Jackie was known as a true Red Raider at heart due to his rarity in missing anything Texas Tech related, whether it was football, basketball, or any other sport, on television. Jackie did have a passion for dancing, and nothing lit up a room more than seeing him glide across the floor, laughing and spinning with his signature energy he brought into the room. He was a man who knew how to enjoy life and bring that same joy to his friends and family. More than anything, Jackie was a devoted husband, a loving father, and a proud grandfather. His loyalty, strength, and sense of humor will be dearly missed but forever cherished by those who loved him.
Jackie is survived by his wife, Sandi Bynum; children, Douglas Bynum and wife Katie of Dallas, Texas, Jacquelyn Gleaves and husband Chuck along with son, Boots, of Indianapolis, Indiana, and Dustin Bynum and wife Jessi along with 7 children of San Antonio, Texas, and stepdaughter, Kerri Pope along with 3 grandchildren, Presley and husband Ty Robertson along with great granddaughter, Murphey, Cooper and fiancé Maddie, and Bodie Pope.
Visitation will take place on Monday July 7, 2025, at 6-8 PM at the Combest Family Funeral Home Chapel. A memorial service will be held Tuesday at 11 AM at Combest Family Funeral Home at the Venue on Broadway.
The Bynum family would like to extend their deepest gratitude to Enhabit Hospice for their compassionate care and tireless efforts in Jackie’s final days.
