Jacob "Jake" Austin Burns, a devoted father and loving husband, passed away at the age of 24 on Monday, April 13, 2026, in Lubbock, surrounded by family.
Born on May 4, 2001, in Winfield, Illinois, Jacob grew up with a strong sense of loyalty, love, and dedication to those closest to him. He graduated from high school and went on to start working in landscaping with his brother, Donovan.
During this time, Jake met Izzy Schultz and they started their life together May 10, 2020. Their love was deep, enduring, and full of laughter, resilience, and unwavering support. Together, they created a life rooted in love and family, eventually moving to Lubbock in November 2024. There, Jake continued his work in landscaping, taking pride in building something meaningful with his hands.
Above all else, Jacob was a devoted father. His daughter, Ivy Ann Burns, was the light of his life and his greatest joy. He adored her completely—whether it was making her laugh, holding her close, or simply being her dad, those moments meant everything to him. Jake's love for Ivy was pure, constant, and something that will live on through her every day.
He is survived by his wife, Izzy, and their beloved daughter, Ivy Ann Burns; his father, Jason Burns of Illinois; his siblings, Donovan Burns of Illinois, Army Pvt. Emma O’Keefe and her husband Army Sgt. Jason O’Keefe of Georgia, and Ava Burns of Illinois; his grandparents, Keith and Judy Burns of Georgetown and Tom and Judy Fitzgerald of Florida; his in-laws, Rob Schultz of Lubbock and Kim Schultz of Illinois; along with many extended family members who loved him dearly.
Jake will be remembered for his warmth, his deep love for his family, and the way he made those around him feel safe and cared for. His presence brought light into every room, and his love—especially for his family and his faith—will continue to inspire all who knew him.
Visitation will begin at 9:30 a.m. on Friday, April 17, 2026, at Combest Family Memorial Chapel, with services starting at 11:00 a.m. Jake will be laid to rest on April 18, 2026, at 2:00 p.m. at Jourdanton Cemetery, 1223 Fig St, Jourdanton, Texas.
