James (Jim) Scofield, Sr., a beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend, passed away on Friday, February 20, 2026, in Lubbock, surrounded by his loving family. Born on June 5, 1956, in Japan, Jim was born into a military family which set the stage for his own military career. After graduating high school in 1973, he enlisted in the United States Marine Corps, serving honorably until his discharge in 1975. At that time, Jim went to college where he received his Radio Technician degree. He worked for a variety of business in Lubbock including Montgomery Wards, Radio Lab and Lubbock Communication. He spent the bulk of his career with the City of Lubbock, retiring in 2025.
Jim married Debbie on September 13, 2013. He was a faithful member of Faith Free Will Baptist Church. He was very devoted to his faith and never hesitated to share it. He enjoyed flying radio control airplanes and won many awards throughout the years.
Those left to cherish his memory are his devoted wife, Debbie of more than 12 years; children: Jennifer Blanchard and husband Asa of Morgan City, Louisiana; Jimmy Scofield of Patterson, Louisiana; and Amiee Diebel and husband Mark, Mildred Urrutia and husband Eric, and Stefane Duff, all of Lubbock; mother, Mozelle Scofield of Pineville, Louisiana; siblings: Charles Scofield, Shirley Summers and husband Paul, and John Scofield and his wife Malou; and three grandchildren, Asa John, Kyle and Aubrey. Jim is also survived by five nephews: J.C. Landry, Nick Scofield, Keith Scofield, Wesley Scofield, and Jacob Scofield.
Jim was preceded in death by his father, Charles Scofield and one granddaughter, Charlotte Sophia Blanchard.
Memorial services with military honors will be held at 2:00 pm Saturday, February 28, 2026 at Combest Family Memorial Chapel.
