James Ronald Lane

James Ronald Lane, 81, a lifelong resident of Lubbock, was called home to Heaven on Tuesday evening, September 1, 2026, surrounded by his loving family.

James was born July 12, 1945, in Lubbock to William Bennett Lane and Ada Ballard Lane. He was raised in Lubbock and graduated from Lubbock High School in 1965.

James worked for W & W Steel Company for 40 years before retiring in 2018. He was a hardworking and loyal man who loved his family and enjoyed the simple things in life. He especially enjoyed watching the Dallas Cowboys and Kansas City Chiefs, going out to eat with his family, and simply spending time with the people he loved.

In 2002, James married the love of his life, Charlene Lisenbee. He was a member of Agape United Methodist Church and a man of faith. His family takes comfort in knowing that he is now home in Heaven and that this goodbye is not forever.

James leaves behind his wife, Charlene Lane of Lubbock; son, Chris Lane and wife Christi of Lubbock; daughters, Shady Malaeb and husband Sam of Lubbock and Kristin Lane of Odem; seven grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, William and Ada Lane; son, Brant Christopher Lane; brothers, William Dwain Lane and Walter Donald Lane; and sister, Cherie Carolyn Patterson.

Visitation will be from 12:00 to 1:45 p.m. at Aldersgate United Methodist Church, 10306 Indiana Avenue in Lubbock, with services beginning at 2:00 p.m. Pastor Ryan Smallwood will officiate. Interment will follow at the City of Lubbock Cemetery under the care of Combest Family Funeral Homes.

James will be deeply missed, but the love he gave, the memories he created, and the life he shared with his family will remain with them always.”
