James Eugene Summers

James Eugene Summers, 61, of Lubbock, went to be with his Lord and Savior, on Thursday, September 14, 2023.  James was born on June 27, 1962, in Ft. Worth, Tarrant County, Texas.

James has lived at the Lubbock State Supported Living Center since he was 9 years old.  He loved people, making eye contact with you and the human contact of hugging.  He had the sweetest and most infectious smile, which brought a smile to everyone’s face.  James will be remembered for the love he showed to others and will be missed by the staff from the Quail Home, as well as his best friend, David, who was his roommate.

Those left to honor and cherish his beautiful memory include his guardian of 17 years, Judy Kreller, as well as his former guardian of 3 years, Amy Kreller-Kochis.  He also leaves behind a multitude of staff members and friends from the Lubbock State Supported Living Center.

A time of reflection and visitation honoring James will be held at the Lubbock State Supported Living Center Chapel on Thursday, September 21, 2023, from 1 PM to 2 PM.  Funeral services will follow in the Chapel at 2 PM, with Chaplain Wayne Moore officiating.  Final rites and interment will be in Peaceful Gardens Memorial Park under the personal care and direction of Combest Family Funeral Home.
