Janice Kay Fry of Lubbock, known best by Jan, passed away on Saturday, January 17, 2026, at the age of 77. Born on October 8, 1948, in Lubbock to Dalton and Jean (Dobey) Jones, Jan exemplified a life marked by kindness and dedication. After graduating from college, she joined the Peace Corp and spent the next 18 months in Columbia where she embraced the culture, learned Spanish, and found a passion of serving the needy. When she returned, Jan earned her Masters in Dietetics from Texas Tech University, embarking on a fulfilling career as a registered dietician at the Health Sciences Center. She specialized in patients with diabetic concerns teaching them proper habits and long-term care.
Beyond her professional achievements, Jan was a talented quilter and passionate gardener where she grew roses and mums. She was a member of the Lubbock Master Gardeners Association and volunteered at the Lubbock Arboretum. She could often be found riding the gator distributing water hoses or tending to plants. In October of each year, she found great joy helping with the annual Pumpkin Trail.
On March 27, 1986, Jan married Ronnie Fry. They had many happy adventures together and could often be found at their BMW Motorcycle business tinkering and serving other enthusiasts. They attended an annual BMW Rally/Reunion in Sipapu, New Mexico where they rode in the beautiful mountains. Jan was fun loving and rarely met a stranger. After Ronnie's passing in 2017, she moved to Carillon House where she continued making friends and enjoying her time with others.
Jan is survived by her devoted sister, Jerry Sharp and husband Don of Lubbock; nephews, James Sharp and wife Sandra and their children, Victoria and David, all of San Antonio and Matt Sharp and wife wife Caroline and their daughter, Campbell, all of Dallas; and stepson, Jeff Fry and wife Samantha of Lubbock.
