Janie Atkinson Ramirez, 67, of Lubbock, went to be with her Lord and Savior on Tuesday evening, January 18, 2022. She was born in Bryan, Brazos County, Texas to the late Guilibaldo and Santos (Vasquez) Atkinson, on June 12, 1954.

Juanita attended Methodist School of Nursing. She worked as a Registered Nurse for over 30 years. She also served as a school nurse for many years at Jackson Elementary School and as a Diabetic Educator, before retiring in 2012. She loved her family dearly, and cherished all her time she spent with her grandchildren. Janie loved the beauty of the outdoors. She loved working on her flower gardens, watching the birds, and marveling at the beautiful sunrises and sunsets. Janie was bold in her faith and loved the Lord. Her greatest passion was sharing the gospel of Jesus Christ. She ministered to people and traveled the world as a missionary.

Those left to cherish her memory include one daughter, Christina Cline and her husband John of Lubbock; one son, Anthony Ramirez and his wife Rachel of Lubbock; three brothers, Edward Atkinson, Guilibaldo Atkinson, and Pete Atkinson; four sisters, Margaret Correa, Marie Elena Wiggins, Elizabeth Martinez and Coleen Atkinson; three lovely and adored grandchildren Shelby and Paxton Ramirez, and Liam Cline. She was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers, Urbano and Alfredo Atkinson; two sisters, Adela Ramos and Braulia Schipper.

Celebration of Life Memorial Services will be held at 2 PM on Saturday, January 29, 2022, in the Combest Family Memorial Chapel. Pastor Sonny Smart, with Harvest Christian Fellowship in Seymour, will be the officiant. Memorial services and cremation arrangements are under the personal care and direction of Combest Family Funeral Homes and Crematory.
