Janie Torres

Janie Torres, 76, of Lubbock, was lifted into Heaven to be with her Lord and Savior on Saturday evening, January 3, 2026. Janie was born in Cameron, Milam County, Texas, to the late Larry Reyna and Connie (Fino) Reyna.

Janie attended Lubbock schools and graduated from Lubbock High School with her senior class of 1970.

Janie led a rich and full life and loved her family and kept them close to her heart. She loved to cook, especially tacos, carne guisada and tortillas. She especially loved her grandchildren, and they loved to take her to the casinos, which was one of her favorite pastimes. She also enjoyed arranging and decorating for special occasions.

Janie worked in retail for over 35 years, before retiring in 2024. She was a former member of Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church.

Those left to honor and cherish her memory include her husband, George; two daughters: Maryann Torres of Lubbock and Melissa Atencio and husband Juan of Lubbock; one son, Ruben Torres and wife Jovanna of Lubbock; one brother, Larry Reyna II and wife Amelia of Lubbock; two sisters: Connie Prothro and husband Bill of Lubbock and Lucy Martinez and husband Jesse of Lubbock; eight grandchildren and three great-grandchildren, Janie was preceded in death by her parents and one sister, Lydia Reyna.

Memorial Services will be held at 2 PM on Thursday, January 8, 2026, at the Venue on Broadway, 2202 Broadway, next door to Combest Family Funeral Home and Crematory. Deacon Richard McCann of St. Elizabeth’s University Parish Catholic Church will be the Celebrant. Cremation arrangements are under the personal care and direction of Combest Family Funeral Home and Crematory. Inurnment will be held later in Peaceful Gardens Memorial Park.
