Janis Gonzales

Janis Marie (Jenkins) Gonzales of Lubbock passed away on Thursday, April 18, 2024 at the age of 77.  She was born May 16, 1946 in Lubbock and graduated from Monterey High School.   Janis was Manager at Video Express for many years and recently returned to work there.  She was a talented artist making ceramics, paintings, drawing and could crochet.  She will be best remembered for her love of children and the way she cared for others. Her grandchildren were the light of her life. 

Those left to cherish her memory are husband of 45 years, Tommy Gonzales; sons, Robby Denton (Sandra) of Lubbock and Jeremy Gonzales (Crystal) of Bandera; mother, Lois Owen of Lubbock; stepsiblings, Gary Owen, Gladys Owen, and Shirley Owen, all of Lubbock; five grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.

Janis was preceded in death by her father, Tom Jenkins; stepfather, Wayne Owen; first husband, Bob Denton; and stepbrother, Lester Owen.

Visitation will begin at 4:00 pm Monday, April 22, 2024 with the family receiving friends from 6:00-8:00 pm at Combest Family Memorial Chapel.  Services will be at 10:00 am Tuesday, April 23, 2024 at Combest Family Memorial Chapel.
