Lubbock

Jasper James O’Briant of Lubbock entered into eternal rest on Wednesday, February 21, 2024, he was 17 years old. Jasper was born to Jody and Elizabeth O’Briant (Martin) on October 5, 2006, in Lubbock, Texas.

Jasper was a collector of all cool things, from Legos to knives, challenge coins to scars, watches, and dress clothes but what he seemed to collect most is friends. He never met a stranger and if he got your number you would be texted until you embraced him or blocked him. He loved Jesus with all his heart from a young age. He loved his mother, father, brothers, cousins, hunting buddies, and anyone else that would let him. He was an entrepreneur early in life lemonade stands, rubber band bracelets, woven key chains, and his latest endeavor was to build a bubblegum vending machine empire. He lived really quickly and always had a next plan. He persevered (as soon as he knew what the word meant) beyond what most of us are able. Difficulty and disease did not define him but helped to bring forth the character God had placed in him. God worked through him, on him, and even sometimes in spite of him. He was salt and light or sometimes just salty.

Jasper is preceded in death by his grandfather, Joseph Wayland O’Briant Jr. Left to cherish his memory are his parents, Jody and Elizabeth O’Briant; and brothers, Joseph Nathanael and Gabriel Titus O’Briant. The extended family is larger than countable and covers way more than blood relation.

Jasper’s family will receive extended family and friends for a time of visitation on Friday, February 23, 2024, from 6:00PM until 8:00PM, at The Venue on Broadway, next to Combest Family Funeral Homes in Lubbock.

A celebration of life will be held in memory of Jasper on Saturday, February 24, 2024, at 10:00AM, at Victory Life Church in Lubbock, Texas.

In lieu of flowers donations could be made to Covenant Pediatric Oncology Clinic, Lubbock Hospice,   Alex’s Lemonade Stand, or Victory Life Church.
