Jean Truett Flud, 96, of Desoto, formerly of Idalou, went to be with her Lord and Savior on Wednesday evening, September 3, 2025. Jean was born on July 30, 1929, in Petersburg, Hale County, Texas, to the late Ewell Haston Truett and Katie (Harris) Truett.
Jean attended school in Idalou and graduated with the senior class of 1946. She later attended Life Bible College in Los Angeles, graduating in 1955.
She met the love of her life, L. B. Flud, and they were united in marriage in June of 1958. Mr. Flud preceded her in death on October 11, 1989.
Jean worked in the Abernathy school system as a substitute teacher for many years. She loved to sew, but her favorite hobby was singing and playing the piano. She loved to read and do word puzzles, and her family said she was a jack of all trades and family oriented. She was a member of New Hope Four Square Church.
Those left to honor and cherish her memory include one son, Dana Flud and his wife Marsha of Lubbock; one daughter, Alisa Flud-Demetro and husband Randy of Desoto; one brother, Dean Truett and wife Carlene of Georgetown; five grandchildren and ten greatgrandchildren. Jean was preceded in death by her parents; husband; brothers: Pierce Truett, Travis “Tab” Truett and Dibrell “Dib” Truett; and three sisters: Louise Morris, Oneida “Nete” Stanton and Katie Starling.
Visitation for Jean will be held from 6 PM to 8 PM on Wednesday evening, September 10, 2025, in the Combest Family Memorial Chapel, 2210 Broadway. Funeral services will be held at 11 AM on Thursday, September 11, 2025, in the Combest Family Memorial Chapel with Reverends Randy Demetro (son-in-law) and Dana Flud (son), as the officiants. Final rites and interment will follow in the Idalou Cemetery under the personal care and direction of Combest Family Funeral Home.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that you kindly donate in Jean’s memory to the New Hope Four Square Church’s Mission International, 10701 Indiana Avenue, Lubbock, TX 79423.
