Jerry Hendrick

Jerry Hendrick, a loving husband, father, and dedicated public servant, passed away peacefully at his home in Lubbock, Texas, on May 15, 2025, at the age of 68. Born on June 29, 1956, in Littlefield, Texas, Jerry's journey through life was marked by his commitment to family, his community, and his many talents.

An alumnus of Monterey High School, Class of 1974, Jerry's early years were filled with a passion for fixing things, earning him the affectionate nickname of "Mr. Fix It." His hands-on skills as a mechanic and plumber showcased his determination to help others in practical and meaningful ways. Jerry proudly served as a reserve deputy for the Lubbock Sheriff's Office for many years before transitioning to full-time status, where he devoted over two decades to ensuring the safety and well-being of his community. His commitment to law enforcement stood as a testament to his character and his desire to serve others, embodying the values of integrity and dedication that he held dear.

In his personal life, Jerry was a devoted family man. He is survived by his wife, Gaynell, with whom he shared nearly 34 years of love and companionship. He is also survived by his daughter, Morgan Hendrick and wife Jolie of Crosbyton; mother, Tonie Hendrick of Richardson, and his sister, Sharon Sundermeyer, and her husband Ron of Garland.  Jerry was preceded in death by his father, Roy Hendrick.

Jerry loved spending time outdoors fishing or enjoying a thrilling NASCAR race. These passions brought him joy and relaxation, allowing him to connect with nature and unwind from a demanding career.

A memorial service will be held at 4:00 pm, Friday, May 23, 2025, at Combest Family Memorial Chapel. To honor Jerry, the family requests that you please wear very casual attire.
