Jerry Jordan

Jerry Doyle Jordan, 84, of Lubbock, Texas, passed away on November 22, 2025, surrounded by his family and friends, and in the presence of his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.

Born on April 23, 1941, in Amarillo, Texas, Jerry was the son of Ada Ruth and Doyle Jordan. He grew up in Lubbock, graduated from Lubbock High School, and went on to attend Texas Tech University, where he was a proud member of Phi Delta Theta Fraternity. He also served his country honorably in the United States Marine Corps Reserves.

On February 4, 1965, Jerry married the love of his life, Patti Baylot, and together they built a beautiful life firmly rooted in West Texas, where they raised two children and created a lasting legacy anchored in faith, family, and hard work. Their early family years were spent raising sheep, tending horses, and watching Jerry log countless hours on the tractor out in the country before they eventually made their home in the city of Lubbock.

Throughout his life, Jerry was known for his steadfast faith in Jesus, his kindness, strength, unmistakable dry humor, hard work, and his deep generosity. He never hesitated to lend a hand when others were in need. Jerry spent more than 50 years in the printing business, beginning at Housour Printing and Mailing before launching his own company, Jerry Jordan and Associates, which became a respected and trusted printing resource throughout Lubbock. His long-standing partnership with the Lubbock Avalanche-Journal became one of the hallmarks of his professional legacy, as did the many customers who, over the years, grew into dear friends.

Jerry loved many things, but he especially loved Texas Tech! Wreck ’em! There wasn’t a headline in any Tech sport that he didn’t know, and he was a loyal member of Raider Nation—especially during football season. He also enjoyed golf and often reflected fondly on a memorable summer spent in Hawaii with his close friends Pete Holden and Dale Hayden, soaking up the sun and making memories that lasted a lifetime.

The impact of Jerry’s life will continue through the love, wisdom, and stories he shared with those blessed to know him.

Jerry is survived by his wife of more than 60 years, Patti Baylot Jordan; his son, Jeff Jordan and Lauren of Dallas, Texas; his daughter, Jennifer Tarbett and Russ of Dallas, Texas; his sisters Revis Gowan of Lubbock, Texas, and Judy Edwards and husband Kenneth of Lubbock, Texas; his sister-in-law Beverly Moore of Dallas, Texas; his grandchildren Jordan Patteson and husband Dean, Hayden Tarbett and wife Kayla, Hamilton Tarbett, Christian Jordan, Zoya Jordan, Cole, Camden, Anna; his great-grandson Ridge Robert Patteson, and a future great grandchild expected to arrive any day, along with many beloved nieces and nephews.

A Celebration of Life Visitation will be held on Tuesday, November 25th, from 4:00–7:00 PM at Combest Funeral Homes' Venue on Broadway, 2202 Broadway, Lubbock, Texas. The family invites all who knew and loved Jerry to join them in honoring and remembering his life.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you honor Jerry’s memory by spending time with loved ones, cheering for the Red Raiders, paying a kindness forward, and—his greatest hope—seeking a relationship with the Lord.

The family extends their heartfelt gratitude for the outpouring of love and support from friends and family, the caregivers at Covenant Medical Center, and to all who played a meaningful role in Jerry’s life.
