Jesse Contreraz, born on October 9, 1933, in Austin, Texas, passed away peacefully on Saturday, February 21, 2026, in Lubbock surrounded by his family. His life was a tapestry woven with threads of love, devotion, and unwavering faith. As a devoted Christian and a man of God, Jesse was a beacon of hope and guidance for many. Friends and family alike sought his counsel and prayers, for he had a remarkable gift for connecting with others through compassion and understanding. His heart was as expansive as his faith, and he generously invested time and energy into helping those around him succeed.
Jesse's journey began as a soldier in the United States Army from 1955 to 1958, where he served with distinction as a paratrooper stationed in Germany—a country he held dear to his heart, even learning the language. After honorable discharge, he began Contreraz Carpentry, where he demonstrated his craftsmanship.
As a single parent, Jesse watched with pride as he raised his daughter, Valerie. He dedicated himself wholeheartedly to her success, nurturing aspirations and dreams with unwavering support. His proudest accomplishments were chiseled in memories spent as "Team Grandpa," actively involved in the sporting events of his beloved grandchildren—cheering them on from the sidelines.
