Jewel Dane was born in Gotebo, OK on January 30, 1928 and went to be with God on April 11, 2022. She had a full and abundant life raising her family, serving her church, and enjoying life.
Born just before the start of the Great Depression, she spent much of her childhood and youth working on farms in rural Texas. She met the love of her life, Bill Dane while she was working at Wylie's Drug Store. They were married February 21, 1948 and lived in Lubbock for the rest of her life. After raising their family, she joined Bill as owners and operators of Village Cleaners, where they served the community for 17 years until their retirement in 1993. She was an active member of Bacon Heights Baptist Church, joining in 1983, and serving as secretary of the Open Door Sunday School Class and as a member of the Sonshiners Choir.
She is survived by her husband of 74 years, Bill Dane, two sons, Timothy Larry Dane and wife Kathy, of Lubbock; Eugene Dane of Valparaiso, FL; and one daughter, Debra Scott and husband David of McKinney, TX. Grandchildren include Ely Dane and wife Yung of Lubbock; Becky Tarver and husband Sterling of League City, TX; and Lori McCabe and husband Jacob of Chadds Ford, PA. She also has six great grandchildren, all of League City, TX. She is also survived by one brother, Johnny Lam of Security, CO. Preceding her in death were four siblings; one son, Michael; and a grandson, Adam.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, April 13, 2022 from 1-8pm with family receiving friends from 5-7pm at the Oak Crest Suite at Combest Family Funeral Homes. A Service celebrating her life will be held at 2:00pm Thursday, April 14 at Bacon Heights Baptist Church 5110 54th Street. A graveside service will be held immediately after at Peaceful Gardens Memorial Park.
