Jimmy Damron passed away Wednesday, October 26, 2022, in Lubbock, TX. He was born Thursday, February 18, 1937, to Aaron and Ellen (Lanehart) Damron in Crane, TX. Upon graduating high school, Jimmy went to West Texas State University, earning his bachelor’s degree in agriculture. Jimmy then enlisted in the United States Army, serving his country from 1959-1962, and ended in 1965 when he was released from reserve duty. Jimmy was a member of the American Legion, where he served on the Honor Guard Team for many years. Jimmy married Carole Marcy-Evans in January 1999. He was a grain elevator inspector and served in other positions while employed with the State of Texas. Jimmy was of the Church of Christ faith, he loved his family and enjoyed camping, hiking, fishing, canoeing, but most of all, he cherished the moments he spent with his grandkids.
Jimmy was preceded in death by his parents Aaron and Ellen Damron, and a brother Bill Damron, and a daughter, Kathy Evans. Those remaining, to cherish his many memories are his wife of 23 years, Carole, a son, Duane (Meriva) Damron of Redfield, KS., a daughter Kim Damron of Dallas, TX., a daughter Sherry Evans of Lubbock, a son Connor Evans (Shana) of Austin, and a very close friend of the family, Renee Haarmeyer of Lubbock; his grandchildren, Jarrod Damron, Mason Evans, Ryder Evans, and Harper Haarmeyer; and a brother, Tom Damron.
The family of Jimmy Damron will have a gathering at Combest funeral home 2210 Broadway St., on Monday, October 31 from 2:00PM until 4:00PM. He will receive military honors for proudly serving his country.
