Joe Castillo, Jr.

Joe Castillo, Jr., 67 of Lubbock, TX passed away on Monday, February 19, 2024, under the loving care of Hospice of the South Plains. Joe was born February 23, 1956, to Joe Sr. and Faustina (Ortiz) Castillo in O’Donnell, TX where he was raised. He attended O’Donnell High School and then joined the U.S. Army Reserve where he served for six years.  

Joe had three children, Erik, Jeffrey, and Destiny Castillo. He worked in Lubbock and Amarillo, TX in the grocery produce department at various stores. He retired after twenty plus years of working in the grocery business. 

Joe was preceded in death by his parents, Joe Sr. and “Tina”. Those left to honor his memory include his children, Erik (Jessica) of Lubbock, Jeffrey (Talena) of Amarillo and Destiny of Amarillo. He had five grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. His siblings are John (Soyla), Robert, and Anita (Aurelio) Hernandez.

Joe married Yolanda Reyes in November 2014, and was stepfather to Astrid (Raul) Moreno of Borger, TX, Miriam (Justin) Cruz, of Stinnett, TX, and David (Liliana) Reyes of Allen TX. 

Joe loved the Dallas Cowboys and his beloved chihuahua named PeeWee. He had a love for Tejano music, Mazz and La Mafia. He also had a great love of classic cars. 

The family of Joe Castillo will honor his life with a graveside service at the O’Donnell TX Cemetery. Date and Time to be announced.
