Joe Charles Patterson, a lifelong resident of Tahoka, passed away Monday, November 8, 2021, at the age of 82. He was born in Slaton, Texas, on September 2, 1939, to Jim and Ruby (Gribble) Patterson. He graduated from Tahoka High School in 1957. He married Marlene Fitts on February 28, 1964, in Grassland, TX. Joe was a lifelong member of the Church of the Nazarene in Grassland, a church his family helped in founding. Joe worked at the central office for Poka Lambro Telephone Cooperative as an assistant manager and the substations. He helped install the first fiber optics in the area before retiring in 1993. Joe enjoyed football, softball, volleyball, camping, and other outdoor activities such as taking care of his lawn. Joe was happiest when he was with his children and grandchildren.
His memory will be cherished by his wife Marlene Patterson; children, Julie Delin Aten (Mike) of Grassland, Jennifer Kelly of Lubbock, Joe Dell Patterson (Tasha) of Lubbock, and Jim Patterson of Tahoka; siblings, Bob Patterson of Slaton, and Sue Melton of Floydada; and seven grandchildren, Aaron, Joshua, Elizabeth, Hannah, Sarah, Katie and Zachary.
He is preceded in death by his parents and two sisters, Billie Reed and Joyce Moulder.

Visitation will be from 4:00-7:00 p.m. with family receiving friends from 5:00-7:00 p.m., Friday, November 12, 2021, at Combest Family Funeral Homes, Tahoka. Services will begin at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, November 13, 2021, at the Grassland Church of the Nazarene with interment to follow at the Grassland Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Aaron Peralez, Joshua Patterson, Zachary Crank, Todd McNeely, Lance Beavers, Kurt McCleskey and Honorary pallbearer will be Donnie Fitts.
