Joe Bryan Roye

January 14, 1950 — October 29, 2025

Lubbock

Joe Bryan Roye, formerly of O'Donnell, Texas, passed from this life at his residence in Shadow Hills Neighborhood, Lubbock, Texas on October 29th, 2025. He was born to Cecil Bryan Roye and Allie Jo (Schooler) Roye on January 14th, 1950. The family moved to Seagraves, Texas, where Joe started school. They returned to O'Donnell in the mid 60’s and Joe graduated from O'Donnell High School in 1968. He married Joylene Anderson on November 19, 1971, in O'Donnell. They parted in 1992 but remained good friends and continued to support their son and later, their two granddaughters in all their sports, One-Act Play activities, birthdays and holiday celebrations as a family.

Joe’s biggest passion was photography. He was an avid camera buff! He enjoyed taking pictures of little critters, beautiful flowers and interesting insects of course with his zoom lens. But his greatest passion and delight was taking pictures of his two beautiful granddaughters. He was always there, at the finish line in track and cross-country, at the awards in OAP, at birthdays and holidays, especially Christmas. Then came a whole new adventure for the past five years, he took lots of pride and excitement in photos of his great-grandson. He was a very proud and special Pawpaw. He will be greatly missed but he left us with many memories in pictures.

Left to cherish his memory is his son, Mark Bryan Roye and wife, Lorrye of O'Donnell; Granddaughter, Madison Roye and Daria Tinkler; Great-grandson Eli Bryan Roye of O'Donnell; Granddaughter, Morgan Roye of O'Donnell who is currently attending West Texas A&M University in Canyon. Brother, Tommy Roye and wife, Kelly of Kelseyville, California; Brother, David Roye and stepmom, Patty Roye, both of Breckenridge, Texas. Joylene Roye of O'Donnell, and many special cousins, nieces and nephews and extended family members.

He is preceded in death by his parents and grandparents, Herbert and Willie Roye, who moved to O'Donnell from Seagraves in 1969 to take care of their three special grandsons.

Joe will be laid to rest in peace, at last, by his precious little mother, Allie Jo, under the cedar tree at the O'Donnell cemetery. Graveside service with Bro. Ken Peterson presiding, at 3:00 p.m., Friday, November 7th, 2025.

The family will gather after the service at the O'Donnell Senior Citizen Center where all are welcome to come visit. Thank you for your prayers and support.
