John Robert Allen

John Robert Allen, 82, passed away March 7, 2024, in Lubbock, Tx. He was born January 10, 1942 to Robert Eli Allen and Mary Jane (Hodges) Allen in Honey Grove, Tx. John graduated from Honey Grove High School and continued his education attending Paris Junior College and University of Texas Arlington to earn a degree in mechanical engineering. John married his high school sweetheart Carolyn Ruth Carter in 1963. They moved to Amarillo, Tx in 1965 for careers and family. 

 

John was a kind, caring and generous person and was devoted to his wife and his 3 daughters Traci, Andrea, and Jonna. He enjoyed fishing, gardening, cooking a hearty breakfast, grilling a good steak, and shelling pecan while watching his Dallas Cowboys and Texas Rangers.

 

After retiring, he and Carolyn moved to Granbury in 2008 to a house on the Brazos river that was perfect for hosting all of the family with fun on the river and shopping in the square.

 

John passed away peacefully at Covenant Medical Center in Lubbock. He was preceded in death by his father and mother,  Robert Eli and Mary Jane Allen, and one brother Tommy Joe Allen.  Those remaining to cherish his many memories include his loving wife of 60 years, Carolyn Ruth Carter Allen, 

his 3 daughters: Traci (Mike) Scribner, Andrea Allen, and Jonna Byars; brothers Sam (Catherene) Allen, Jack (Jan) Allen; sisters Dorothy Clark and Doris Jean Perry; and seven grandchildren.

 

The family of John Robert Allen will honor and celebrate his life with a memorial service at a future time. Interment will take place at Forest Hill Cemetery in Lamar County, Texas.
