John Wayne Crittenden

John Wayne Crittenden, 89, of Levelland, went to be with his Lord and Savior on Friday morning, February 6, 2026. He was born on April 13, 1936, on the Spade Ranch in Lamb County, to the late William Crittenden and Leona (Hix) Crittenden. He grew up in the area and attended school in the Spade ISD.

He met the love of his life, Anita Jean Ward, and they were united in marriage on January 3, 1957, in Littlefield, Texas. Anita preceded him in death on July 20, 2014.

He was the Manager of the ADM Grain Elevator for many years, before retiring in 2001. He loved caring for his grandchildren, working in his yard and did some mechanic work off and on. He was a member of Green Lawn Church of Christ.

Those left to honor and cherish his memory include his children: Susan Wilson and husband Danny of Levelland, Cody Crittenden and wife Marleea of Temple, Katy van Zielst and husband Maarten of Seminole, and Julie Crittenden of Lubbock. He also leaves behind seven grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife; a son, Dickey Wayne Crittenden; a brother, Billy Crittenden; a sister, Barbara Prentice; and a grandson, William van Zielst.

There will be no visitation or viewing prior to services. Graveside services will be held at 2 PM on Friday, February 13, 2026, at Peaceful Gardens Memorial Park. Mr. Dale Mannon, pulpit minister of Green Lawn Church of Christ, will be the officiant.
