John J. Villalobos

John Joseph Villalobos, age 38 of Lubbock, TX departed on Thursday May 15, 2025. He was born on October 26, 1986, in Norfolk, VA to Susan Villalobos. 

After graduating from Amon Carter Riverside High School, he enlisted in the United States Marine Corps Reserve in 2005. John served 19 valiant years; he was just shy of hitting his remarkable 20-year retirement. His dedication included being a proud war veteran and with his hard work he was promoted to Gunnery Sergeant. 

Outside of his military service, John was a proud and devoted father over everything, He also found joy in music whether it was singing or dancing. His die-hard love for the Dallas Cowboys constantly had him up on his feet screaming at the TV as though they could hear him. He thoroughly enjoyed visits to the shooting range, watching MMA, and play wrestling with his boys. His comedic personality and sly sense of humor always made everyone cry in laughter. His passing has left a void in the hearts of his family, friends, and many more whose lives were touched by him. 

John is survived by his wife of 15 years Amy, his children Eyan and Ethan, stepchildren Elijah, Justine, and Leigha Janssen, mother Susan Villalobos, sister Juanita Chavez, brother Anthony Villalobos, and grandfather David Villalobos Sr. He was preceded in death by his grandmother Beatrice Villalobos. 

Visitation will take place from 6:30 PM to 8:30 PM Friday, May 23, 2025 at Combest Funeral Home Venue on Broadway. Funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM. Saturday, May 24, 2025, at Combest Funeral Home Venue on Broadway. Burial will follow with military funeral honors and committal service at the City of Lubbock Cemetery.
