Johnny “Juan” Tobias, 61, of Lubbock, went to be with his Lord and Savior on Thursday morning, September 4, 2025, surrounded by his loving family. Johnny was born on August 11, 1964, in Lubbock, Texas.
Johnny attended Lubbock High School, graduating with his senior class of 1982.
He worked in the environmental control department at Covenant Medical Center for 35 years, before retiring in 2021. He loved watching cable TV, especially shows like Everyone Knows Raymond, Big Valley, Big Bang Theory and the Andy Griffith show. He loved spending time with his nieces, Ruby and Victoria, and his brother, Rudy. Johnny enjoyed driving his blue Dodge Ram, listening to Michael Jackson music, and drinking his Coke and Big Red. He loved to eat over easy eggs and chili dogs at Wienerschnitzel. He was a member of Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church.
Those left to honor and cherish his memory include his mother, Graviella Tobias Trevino of Lubbock; his brother, Rudy Garcia of Lubbock; three sisters: Gaby Torres (Julian) of Lubbock, Sandra Tijerina of Lubbock and Crystal Reyna (Tony) of Lubbock; two nieces: Ruby Marcus (Damian) of Lubbock and Victoria Garcia (Adrian Gonzalez) of Lubbock; and several aunts and uncles.
Visitation for Johnny will be held from 2 PM to 8 PM on Tuesday, September 9, 2025, at the Venue on Broadway, 2202 Broadway, next door to Combest Family Funeral Home, with the Rosary being recited at 6 PM. Mass will be held at 10 AM on Wednesday, September 10, 2025, at Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church, 3111 Erskine Street. Father Rudolf Crasta will be the Celebrant. Final rites and interment will follow in Resthaven Memorial Park under the personal care and direction of Combest Family Funeral Home.
The Tobias family would like to thank Hospice of the South Plains for their exceptional care and love shown to Johnny, especially Kenna and Carolyn.
