Johnny Warlick

Johnny Warlick, 96, of Lubbock passed away on October 27, 2022. He was born in Snyder, OK on September 29, 1926 to John & Della Mae Warlick. He joined the U.S. Navy at the young age of 16. In the U.S. Navy Johnny was a Seaman 2nd Class, USNR proudly serving his country during World War II. In the summer of 1941 he met Carol O’Neal, while playing a casual game of baseball. After five years of dating, on August 11, 1946 he married the love of his life, and together they had five children, four sons and one daughter. Johnny worked for Lubbock Electric as a lineman and then for Southwestern Bell Telephone where he served as a lineman, cable splicer, inspector and installer. He retired after 40 years of service.

During his free time, Johnny was a Scout Leader with the Boy Scouts of America from 1956 to 1965. He and Carol, along with their children, also enjoyed researching and participating in Mountain Man rendezvous as well as Native American Pow Wows. He and Carol were both members of Plainsmen Muzzleloaders and the Texas Indian Hobbyist Association. Johnny had many hobbies that he enjoyed throughout his life. He loved fishing, camping, hunting, woodworking, and collecting items such as barbed wire from across the Southwest, telephone wire insulators and Native American Artifacts. Johnny also was an intricate artist making many Native American items by hand such as hand beaded belts, moccasins, and jewelry as well as handmade drums, knives and Native American Dance Regalia. Johnny and Carol were happily married for 45 years until her passing in February of 1991. After the passing of his loving wife Carol, Johnny was blessed to meet and marry the second love of his life, Donalee Warlick. They enjoyed 29 years of marriage. Together they enjoyed camping, four wheeling, traveling and spending time outdoors with family.

Johnny is preceded in death by his parents John and Della Mae, wife Carol, brothers Alvin and JD, sisters Wanda and Jewel and son Donice. He is survived by his wife Donalee, sons Rick -wife Janetha; Ronny-wife Teena; Rodney; and daughter Debbie Reeves -husband Ray; Nine grandchildren and seventeen great grandchildren. Johnny is also survived by Donalee’s children, Ricki Van Liew-wife Tammie, Donna Little-husband Glen and a host of grandchildren, great grandchildren and great great grandchildren who will always love him. Johnny loved his entire family more than anything. He is often described as having the biggest heart and he will forever be loved and missed.

The family of Johnny Warlick will greet friends Tuesday, November 1, 2022, from 5:00-7:00PM, at Combest Memorial Chapel 2210 Broadway St., A funeral service is scheduled for Wednesday, November 2, 2022, at 2:00PM in the Combest Memorial Chapel with burial following at Englewood Cemetery, Slaton.
