Jose Garcia

October 25, 1959 — November 25, 2025

Jose Garcia passed peacefully through Heaven’s gate, receiving his crown on November 25, 2025.

Jose Garcia was born in Lubbock, TX on October 25, 1959, to Fernando Garcia and Ramona D’ives Garcia. He graduated from Lubbock High School in 1978 where he loved playing on the basketball team.

His lifelong love for hard work and caring for others began early in life. As a young boy he mowed a sweet, elderly neighbor lady’s lawn earning him milk and cookies and then a few dollars as he grew older. This simple job was the start of a legacy built on dedication and hard work ethic.

For many years, Jose was a loyal and trusted employee of Mr. Adams at Lubbock Packing Co. He eventually followed his passion and created his own business, Garcia’s Complete Lawn care and Landscape while tending to the Adams property until July 2025. Jose poured his heart into his business for 38 years. His love for plants, yards and landscape design showed in every job he completed. He kept loyal customers for many years- never once needing to advertise because his character, attention to detail and craftsmanship spoke loudly enough.

Jose had a special bond with his father and loved learning while gaining wisdom from him. He carried these lessons of wisdom, humility and respect throughout his life. He had a deep respect for the elderly and treated everyone kindly. He also had a heart for the homeless he’d seen during his travels and gave food, water and clothing so consistently that several loved him and knew his name.

He poured his life into his family, especially his two sons Joseph and Joshua and his grandchildren, working very hard to ensure a better future for them. Jose was an old soul- private, thoughtful and deeply respectful. He had a dry sense of humor that could catch anyone off guard and loved to make others laugh. To know Jose, was to know a man of honesty, integrity and quiet strength.

In 2023, Jose married his best friend, Laurie. Together, they enjoyed traveling, watching movies, time in their beautiful backyard, cozy evenings by the fire and proving to one another what true love is, when you serve the Lord. He was a devoted husband, a great provider and lead his household in serving God. He loved his whole family, his family at Faith Church Lubbock and speaking about the Lord. He spoke about his Lord and Savior always and showed it in how he walked through life with God.

His memory will live on in the many lives he touched, friendships he had, and the beauty he created in the world around him.

His memory will be cherished by his wife, Laurie Garcia of Lubbock, TX; his sons Joseph Garcia of Dallas, TX and Joshua Garcia (Tina) of San Antonio; grandchildren Benjamin Albert, Jace Carter, Jerek, Easton and Jaeley Brienne of San Antonio, TX; his mother Ramona Garcia of Lubbock, TX; brothers and sisters Fernando Garcia (Mary) of Lubbock, TX, Jesse Garcia (Irma) of Lubbock, TX, Hilda Carrillo (Michael) of Dallas, TX, Mary Helen Engelbrecht (Todd) of Shallowater, TX, Noe Garcia (Corrie) of Lubbock, TX, many nieces and nephews and grand nieces and nephews. Jose was preceded in death by his father, Fernando Garcia.
