Joshua Blakley

February 27, 1981 — July 1, 2022

Lubbock, TX

Joshua Carl Blakey (41) passed away Friday, July 1, 2022, in Lubbock, TX. Joshua was born to Fred Andrew and Shirley Ann (Reich) Blakley February 27, 1981, in Amarillo, TX. Joshua, raised by his mother, attended the school for the blind, in Austin, from kindergarten through 6th grade. He then went back to Canyon, to complete Junior High and High School, graduating from Canyon High School in 2000. He was known, by many, because he never knew a stranger.

Joshua was always smiling, and his laugh was contagious. He could talk your ear off about star trek or almost any anime ever made. Every time Joshua called his sister, within the last few years, he would start the call with, “hey sis, wanna hear a joke?” and then, he would belly laugh.

Joshua loved to draw and was quite talented for a legally blind individual. His nieces and nephews have some of his amazing artwork on their walls. Joshua loved to cook and make up recipes of his own. He was a great uncle who loved his family, nieces, and nephews. Joshua was taken too early; he will be forever missed. He was a member of the Latter-Day Saints Church, Canyon Ward. Joshua is now in the loving arms of Jesus; Be still and know that I am God. Psalm 46:10.

Joshua was preceded in death by his father, Andrew Blakley; 2 loving grandparents Blanche and Ernest Nesteby, and 2 uncles, Charles and Gary Nesteby. Those left to chersih his memories are his mother, Shirley, a sister, Illeatha, a brother-in-law, Tray Adams, 2 neices, Atraya and Wynter Adams, 2 nephews Andy and Sammy Adams, aunt Linda, and 2 cousins, April and Timmy Bennett.

A memorial gathering, in honor of Joshua is scheduled for Friday, September 2, 2002 at 6:00PM. The location will be determined. Please check back for the location.
