Joy Sue Bailey

Joy Sue Bailey, born on December 2, 1951, in Andrews, Texas, peacefully passed away on May 15, 2025, surrounded by her loved ones. A proud graduate of Canton High School, Class of 1970, Joy married her beloved husband, Ronnie Bailey, in 1971.

Joy dedicated her life to teaching music at Sundown Elementary, where she shared her passion for music with countless young hearts. Her love for her church, Skyline Baptist, was a cornerstone of her life, and she enjoyed spending time sewing and crafting special gifts for her family and friends. Joy had a talent for shopping and a generous spirit, always finding joy in spoiling those she loved.

She was preceded in death by her mother, Joyce Wilson.

Joy is survived by her husband, Ronnie Bailey; children Charissa Courtney (married to Trey Courtney) and Aaron Bailey (married to Jennifer Bailey); grandchildren Rebecca Courtney and Ian Courtney; her father, William G. Wilson; siblings Michael Wilson, Judy Stone, and Nancy Wilson-Rhodes; along with a cherished circle of family and friends who will miss her dearly.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, May 22, from 6:00 to 7:00 PM at The Venue on Broadway, followed by her funeral on Friday, May 23, at 2:00 PM at the same location. In honoring her wishes, Joy will be cremated.

She will be remembered for her kind heart, vibrant spirit, and the love she shared with all who knew her.
