Juanita Leal

Juanita Leal, 84, of Lubbock, went to be with her Lord and Savior on Friday, December 1, 2023, surrounded by her loving family.  Juanita was born on March 8, 1939, in Lytle, Atacosa County, Texas, to the late Jesus Resendez and Amelia (Alaquinez) Resendez.

Juanita met the love of her life, Ramiro Leal, and they were married on November 19, 1958, in Brownfield, Texas.  Ramiro preceded her in death on July 28, 1994.

She was a beautiful mother, grandmother and great-grandmother to her loving family.  She was a homemaker, loved to garden and cook.  She was a long-time member of St. Patrick’s Catholic Church.

Those left to cherish and honor her memory include one daughter, Beatrice Cervantez and her husband Bobby Santos of Hondo; one son, Rudy Leal and his wife Sylvia of Lubbock; one sister, Hortencia Montanez and her husband Jose of Levelland; five grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren.  She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; one son, Armando Leal; one daughter, Normal Linda Leal; five brothers:  Benny, Jessie, Cruz, Johnny and Raymond Resendez; three sisters:  Ester Leal, Florencia Reyes and Rosemary Salazar.

Visitation will be held from 5 PM to 7 PM on Wednesday, December 6, 2023, in the Combest Family Memorial Chapel.  Recitation of the Rosary will be recited at 6 PM.  Mass will be held at 10 AM on Thursday, December 7, 2023, at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church, 1603 Cherry Avenue.  Reverend Dr. Joseph Thanavelil will be the Celebrant.  Final rites and interment will be in the City of Lubbock Cemetery under the personal care and direction of Combest Family Funeral Homes.

The pallbearers will be Rudy Leal, Jr., Erik Cervantez, Nick Lara, Daniel Chavira, Jesse Resendez, Jr., and Ruben Huerta.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial donations in Juanita’s memory to Hospice of the South Plains, 4413 82^nd Street, #135, Lubbock, TX 79424.
