Juanita (Quintanilla) Olguin

Juanita (Quintanilla) Olguin, 70, of Lubbock, passed away early Saturday morning, November 4, 2023.  Juanita was born to the late John Quintanilla and Jovita (Hernandez) Quintanilla, on January 11, 1953 in Paducah, Cottle County, Texas.

She met Luis Olguin, the love of her life, and they were married in Lubbock, Texas on April 27, 2002.  Mr. Olguin preceded her in death on February 5, 2011.

Juanita worked as a caretaker for a family member.  She loved to dance, her favorite pastime, and to travel, was a foodie, loved Tejano music and watching movies.  She especially enjoyed gambling at the slot machines.  Juanita was described by her family as a loving, giving person, who thought of everyone else above herself.  She was a member of Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church.

Those left to honor and cherish her memory include three sons:  Tommy Quintanilla and his wife Sonia of Plainview, Lou Quintanilla Pena and his wife Kendra of LaVernia, and Gabriel Pena and his wife Rosa Linda of San Antonio; two daughters:  Patricia Gomez and her husband Johnny of Lubbock and Monica Guzman and her husband Martin of Hart; two brothers:  Manuel Quintanilla and his wife Mary of Lubbock and Fermin Quintanilla and his wife Lupe of Lubbock; one sister:  Gloria Olguin and her husband Luis of Lubbock; thirteen grandchildren:  Gabriel Pena, Andrew Pena, Geneva Gomez, Johnny Gomez, III, Martin Guzman, Michael Guzman, Malachi Guzman, Nathaniel Martinez, Icesis Pena, Derek Pena, Lauren Elizalda, Marissa Elizalda, and Faith Rosas; and 5 great-grandchildren.  Juanita was preceded in death by her parents and husband.

A visitation for Juanita will be held from 10:30 AM to 2 PM on Friday, November 10, 2023, in the Combest Family Memorial Chapel.  Celebration of Life services will follow at 2 PM in the Combest Family Memorial Chapel.  Interment of cremains will be scheduled later.  Cremation arrangements are under the personal care and direction of Combest Family Funeral Homes and Crematory.
