Judy Watterson Buckner, 74, of Lubbock, went to be with her Lord and Savior on Saturday morning, March 4, 2023. Judy was born on November 16, 1948, in Levelland, Hockley County, Texas, to the late Woodrow W. Coursey and Ruby Jewell (Brewer) Coursey.
Judy was married to James Walter Buckner. Mr. Buckner preceded her in death in November of 2008.
Judy worked as a postal clerk for many years, working in multiple postal office locations before retiring. She loved to make jewelry and clothes. She was a very social person and loved to shop for a great sale, especially at Dillard’s. She grew up in the Church of Christ faith.
Those left to cherish and honor her memory include three nephews, James Coursey and his wife Lynn of New Caney, Craig Coursey of Delaware and Carl Coursey and his wife Victoria of Phoenix, Arizona; one niece, Carolyn Fort and her husband David of Port Orchard, Washington; one great nephew, James Coursey, Jr. and his wife Marci, along with their children, Trinity, Lucas and Emma of Hutto, Texas; one great niece, Olivia and her husband Orlando of Hutto, Texas; her ex-husband and dear friend, Ray Watterson and his wife Kay. Judy was preceded in death by her parents; husband James Walter Buckner; two brothers, George Coursey and James D. Coursey.
A time of reflection and visitation will be held from 9:30 AM to 11:30 AM on Monday, March 13, 2023, in the Oak Crest Suite of Combest Family Funeral Homes and Crematory. Graveside services will follow at 2 PM on Monday, March 13, 2023, at Peaceful Gardens Memorial Park under the personal care and direction of Combest Family Funeral Homes and Crematory. Judy’s great nephew, James Coursey, Jr., will be the officiant.
Pallbearers will be James Coursey, James Coursey, Jr., Lucas Coursey, Jim Gordey, Alvie Joe Rivere, Joe Bob Brock and Paul Love.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial donations be made to the American Cancer Society, PO Box 22718, Oklahoma City, Oklahoma 73123.
