Kaden Elijah Garcia, age 12, of Lubbock, Texas, passed away surrounded by the love of his family. Born on August 3, 2012, in Lubbock, to Anthony Quevedo and Denea Garcia. Kaden was a bright light in the lives of everyone who knew him. He was a sweet soul whose joy, laughter, and love left an unforgettable mark on the world around him.
From the moment he could smile, Kaden brought happiness to those near him. He was a devoted fan of the Minions, whose silly adventures and infectious energy mirrored his own bright and playful spirit. Kaden loved music deeply, especially Tomorrow by Chris Young, which always brought a smile to his face. One of Kaden’s favorite things in the world was simply being with his family. Whether it was going on car rides, feeling the wind in his face, or just sitting quietly while his siblings played nearby, Kaden found joy in the little moments that many overlook. He was at peace most when surrounded by the sounds of his brothers and sisters laughing, playing, and being together. Kaden will be remembered for his eyes, smile, and spirit that spoke louder than words ever could. Though his time here was far too short, his impact will be felt forever in the hearts of those who knew and loved him. Kaden reminded us of the joy in the small things, the strength in silence, and the power of presence.
He is survived by his loving parents, Anthony Quevedo and Denea Garcia of Lubbock; step-father, Tomas Perez of Lubbock, siblings, Gabriel Garcia, Julian Perez, Kayleigh Garcia, Co’Bayne Quevedo, Casius Quevedo, Na’liyah Quevedo, Nyla Quevedo, and Natalie Cortez, all of Lubbock; grandparents, Denise Vallejos, Larry Garcia, and Eddie Lopez, all of Lubbock; Aunt, Desiree Martinez; and uncles, Gabriel Garcia and Joshua Martinez.
He is preceded in death by his great-grandparents, Kathleen Garcia, Louis Garcia, and Carlos Vallejos, great uncle, Bradley Garcia, and cousin, Brady Vallejos.
A service to celebrate Kaden’s life will be held at 2 PM on Tuesday, July 29, 2025, at the Combest Family Funeral Chapel. A burial will proceed to the City of Lubbock Cemetery. In honor of Kaden, the family invites those attending to wear something yellow or Minion-themed, a small tribute to the little things that brought him such big happiness.
The family would like to express their deepest gratitude to the special caregivers, Melissa Morales, Heidi from Hospice of Lubbock, Renee from Lauves Pediatrics, and Shawn Reeves from UMC, who loved and cared for Kaden with extraordinary kindness, patience, and compassion.
