Karen Phyllis Durband of Wolfforth, Texas passed away in Lubbock, Texas on August 4, 2025. She was born September 7, 1946 in Chicago, Illinois, the second child of Amelia and Arthur Wahlberg.

She graduated from Bremen High School in Midlothian, Illinois in 1964 and also attended Kendall College in Evanston, Illinois. She worked as an executive assistant to senior management at several companies, including AON and Baxter Healthcare, and retired from Texas Tech University in 2011. Karen loved baking, gardening, and spending time with family and her cats.

Karen was preceded in death by her parents Arthur William Wahlberg and Amelia Mae Wojnaroski Wahlberg. She is survived by her brothers Charles Wahlberg of Moline, Illinois and David Wahlberg of Oak Forest, Illinois; and two children, Arthur Charles Durband and wife Dorothy Bagwell Durband and Robert Alan Durband and wife Rebecca Nunn Farris, who all reside in Lubbock, Texas.

It was her wish that no memorial service be held. Her final resting place will be in Raber, Michigan alongside her parents.
