New Home

Kay James, born on June 28, 1942, in Tucumcari, New Mexico, passed away peacefully on Monday, January 26, 2026 at the age of 83. At a young age, the family moved to Wolfforth where graduated from Frenship High School. Kay married Gayland James on September 27, 1963 and they made their home in New Home, where they were active members of New Home Baptist Church. She dedicated many years to the New Home Independent School District business office where her talents and leadership flourished until her retirement. Kay was known for her collection of chickens, despite having an understandable fear of birds. An avid photographer, she captured life’s precious moments that would become treasured memories for her family.

Those left to cherish her memory are her husband of 62 years, Gayland James of New Home; sons, Kyle James and his wife Christy of Fort Worth and Coby James and his wife Jennifer of Highland Village; four grandchildren: Jordan James and spouse Alexa, Cade James and wife Jenna, Kiersten James, and Caleb James; three great-grandchildren, Sage, Wren, and Eli; and sister, Lori Foshee Koslow

A Celebration of Life service will be held at  10:00 am, Saturday, January 31, 2026, at New Home Baptist Church. Following the service, the family will have a time of fellowship from 10:30-11:30 am at the church.
