Kelcie Cecil Whisenhunt of Lubbock passed away on March 7, 2013.  Cecil was born on September 25, 1924 in McCurtin County, Oklahoma to Laura Elizabeth Blake Whisenhunt and Green Lee Whisenhunt.  In 1925 his family moved to the Lubbock area where he grew up.  He attended high school at Roosevelt High in Acuff.

He was the beloved husband of Marcy Lee Weir Whisenhunt for 68 years.  He is survived by his son James (Butch) Whisenhunt and daughter, Vicki Wood and four grandchildren.  The granddaughters are Demetra and Keeley Johnson and Kacie Baxley.  His grandson is Scott Goodpasture.  Scott’s mother, Janie Bruce, preceded Cecil in death.  Of his 7 siblings, Cecil has only Veta Ruth Dillon of Lubbock remaining with her children Larry Dillon and Debbie Lawson.  He leaves many more nieces and nephews.

After marrying, Cecil tried farming and truck driving.  From the 1950’s to 1970, Cecil had a very successful tile setting business named A-1 Tile. After he closed out the tile company, he then opened the A-1 Auto on Texas Avenue where he was for 17 years before moving to Avenue H.  Cecil had a reputation for selling good dependable used cars and enjoyed serving the auto needs of Lubbock until he retired.
