Laura Lopez Gonzalez, a devoted mother, grandmother, daughter, and sister passed away peacefully on June 18, 2026, in Post, Texas. Born on August 16, 1957, in Pabellon De Arteaga Aguascalientes, Mexico, Laura lived a life marked by warmth, love, and an unwavering dedication to her family and faith.
Laura’s early years were filled with travel and embracing diverse experiences that enriched her worldview living in Pabellon, Houston, Chicago, Gilroy, and Snyder she eventually settled in Post, Texas. There she raised her five children and established her home. She was a loving and strong presence to all who knew her, characterized by her catholic faith, generous spirit, tough love, and deep commitment to her family and friends.
Laura worked in many different professions, but ultimately finished her working career as a Correctional Officer at the Garza County Juvenile Detention Center, retiring in 2011. In retirement, Laura spent her time traveling and hanging out with her family, regaining time spent with her sisters, brothers, and children. When she wasn’t with her family she could be found shopping the clearance racks, watching game shows or movies, and babysitting her grandchildren.
Laura is survived by her daughter Ana Sanchez (husband Andrew) and sons Ismael Estrada, Jason Estrada (wife Kristian), and Stephen Rodriguez. Her legacy extends through her beloved grandchildren Miguel Jr. Sanchez, Malaeki Sanchez, Alex Martinez, Abby Martinez, Ayden Martinez, Kiara Estrada, Ailani Estrada, Angelina Estrada, Madalyn Estrada, Jaxon Estrada, and Jaden Estrada, as well as five great-grandchildren. She is also remembered fondly by her sisters Leticia, Lidia, Cristina, and Rebecca, and brothers Juan, Hurbano, and Robert.
She was preceded in death by her parents Florencio and Teresa Lopez, her son Miguel Sanchez, her sister Esther, and her brothers Oscar, Florencio Jr., and Sergio.
A visitation will be held on June 24, 2026, from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at the Combest Family Funeral Home in Lubbock, Texas, located at 2210 Broadway Street, followed immediately by a Rosary at 7:00 p.m. The funeral service will take place on June 25, 2026, at 10:00 a.m. at Holy Spirit Catholic Church, 9821 Frankford Avenue in Lubbock, Texas.
Laura Lopez Gonzalez’s life was a testament to the power of love and faith. She will be profoundly missed by all who had the privilege to know her, yet her spirit will continue to inspire through the memories and love she leaves behind.
