Laverne Shipman passed away on Saturday, March 25, 2017.  She was 64 years of age at the time of her death. She was born in Alpine, TX to Aven L Shipman and Lorena Shipman on May 7, 1952.  Laverne attended John Jay High School in San Antonio Texas where she was a proud Mustang cheerleader for her alma mater. She was a proud accounting employee at Texas Tech University until March 2015. 

Laverne was an avid animal lover at heart which was apparent by the way she treated her two Yorkshire fur babies Sammy and Jessie. Family and friends were also Laverne’s passion and delight.  Laverne’s favorite time of year was Christmas and she had much joy in the Christmas spirit and celebrating the birth of Jesus. She loved cooking, crafting, reading, and tending to the many plants and flowers that she acquired over the years. She also loved her Texas Rangers and Dallas Cowboys and never missed an opportunity to watch a game. She was truly a life long fan.

Laverne was preceded in death by her parents and her beloved Yorkie Sammy.

She is survived by her daughter Lisa Moses and husband John of Bedfordshire, England; son Jimmy Bacon II of Lubbock; brothers, Ronald Shipman of Lubbock, Douglas Shipman of San Antonio, TX, and Larry Shipman of San Antonio, TX; grandchildren, Christopher Loftis, Katie Loftis, and Jessica Moses; and fur baby Jessie James.
