Lee Earl Myers

Lee Earl Myers passed away on December 15, 2025, in Lubbock, Texas, at the age of 93. He was born on July 20, 1932, in Chicago, Illinois, to Earl Myers and Dora Thomas Myers.

Lee was raised in Solsberry, Indiana, where his family lived and worked on their farm. He graduated from Solsberry High School in 1950 and later attended Indiana University for a short time. Although his time at the university was brief, it left a lasting impression, and he remained a devoted fan of Indiana University sports, especially basketball, throughout his life.

Following his studies, Lee proudly served his country in the United States Navy for four years during the Korean War. He attained the rank of Aviation Electronics Technician, Petty Officer First Class, a role that reflected his technical skill and dedication.

In the 1960s, Lee served as Mayor of Imperial Beach, California, and built a career as a financial planner. His involvement in public service fostered a lifelong interest in politics. He was well known for staying informed on current events and enjoyed thoughtful political discussions with others. Lee also wrote several editorials for various newspapers and was an avid reader.

A man with a love for travel and culture, Lee spent approximately five years living abroad in Spain and Germany, an experience that broadened his perspective and enriched his life.

Lee is survived by his daughter, Sue Ann Hansford; his son-in-law, David R. Gibson; grandchildren, Andrew David Gibson, Seth Montgomery Hansford, Bryan Paul Gibson, and his granddaughter-in-law, Alicia Elaine Hansford; and his great-grandchildren, August Montgomery Hansford, Elwood Seth Hansford, Lincoln Faye Hansford, and Aubrey Elaine Hansford.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Earl Myers and Dora Thomas Myers; his daughters, Lou Ann Myers and DeAnna May Gibson; his brother, Paul D. Myers; and his sister, Beverly Berg.

Committal services with Military Honors for Lee Myers will be held at the new West Texas State Veterans Cemetery in Lubbock, TX as soon as the grounds are officially open to the public.
