On April 24, 2025, Lee Roy Rivers, a faithful servant of God, loving husband, devoted father, and beloved grandfather, peacefully went home to be with the Lord.
Born August 17, 1928, to Rufus and Lillie Rivers, Lee Roy was the eldest of six siblings and lived a life marked by humility, integrity, and an unwavering commitment to his Christian faith. A proud and dedicated member of the Church of Christ, he found great joy in singing hymns, leading prayers, and serving his congregation. Above all, he was a man of God who consistently placed the needs of others before his own.
Lee Roy began his career in the wholesale food brokerage business with L.M. Radford Grocery Co., where his sales territory covered Lubbock, Texas. He later joined the Kimbell Wholesale Grocery Co., where he found continued success covering the Lubbock and Amarillo regions. His professional journey then led him to the Shasta division of The Sara Lee Company, a role that began in Lubbock and eventually took him to Albuquerque, New Mexico. He remained with Sara Lee for nearly 25 years before stepping out on his own to found Three Star Brokerage Co., continuing to serve the industry he loved until his retirement.
Upon retiring, Lee Roy and his beloved wife Ann sold their home and most of their possessions to pursue a life of travel and adventure in their truck and RV. Their journey led them to the Hidden Valley Campgrounds outside of Deming, New Mexico, a place they came to call home for 25 beautiful years. While there, Lee Roy developed a passion for rockhounding and began crafting custom pieces, which he and Ann proudly sold at trade shows across the region. As health needs changed, they returned to Lubbock, TX to be closer to family.
Lee Roy is preceded in death by his parents, Rufus and Lillie Rivers; siblings Cleta, Olen, Donald, Jackie, and Jerry Rivers; daughters Margie Sims and Lea Anna Davidson; stepson Roger Britt; and grandsons Mark Casey and Heath Harbison.
He is survived by his loving wife, Ann Rivers; his daughter Shirley Cape and her husband Lonnie; his stepdaughter Lori Hobbs and her husband Les; and grandchildren Shane Womack, Courtni Witt, Danny Casey and his wife Erin, Caleb Harbison and his wife Kara, and Travis Hobbs and his wife Jacque. He also leaves behind 14 great-grandchildren and 7 great-great-grandchildren, each one a testament to the legacy of love and faith he instilled.
Lee Roy’s life was a living example of Christ’s teachings—steadfast in faith, generous in spirit, and devoted to his family. His memory will be treasured always.
