Lillie Johnson

November 22, 1935 — December 14, 2025

Lillian (Lillie) Johnson, a cherished soul and a beacon of warmth and kindness, was called to her eternal rest on December 14, 2025, in Lubbock, Texas. Born on November 22, 1935, in Benchley, Texas, Lillie was the beloved daughter of the late Ernest and Jeanell Johnson.

She was preceded in death by her sons Whinford Earl Johnson and Joe Bill Johnson; brothers Joe Willie Johnson, Ossie Johnson, L.H. Johnson, and Willie Johnson; sister Dollie Johnson; and special friend Herbert Williams.

Throughout her life, Lillie embraced her profession as a chef with great passion, bringing joy and togetherness through the meals she lovingly prepared. She enjoyed cooking for family, friends, and anyone she met. Lillie was also a beautician and served as a grandparent at Lubbock State School. She was actively involved in her community, serving on the Estacado Booster Club and the Lubbock Juneteenth Committee.

Lillie’s education, combined with her life experiences, shaped her into someone people were naturally drawn to. She found peace and reflection in fishing and enjoyed the beauty of nature and the simple joys life offered. Before her illness, she enjoyed traveling, going to bingo, and visiting casinos.

She leaves to cherish her memory, her children Eugene Johnson of Oakdale, LA; B.T. Harris of Lubbock, TX; Milton (Frances) Harris of Atlanta, GA; Rose Harris of Lubbock, TX; Marcus Harris of Lubbock, TX; Nita Sue Delgado of Crosbyton, TX; Sandra Johnson of Lubbock, TX; Cornelius Harris of Atlanta, GA; and Selina Johnson of Lubbock, TX.

She is also survived by her seven sisters Laverne Shannon of Kress, TX; Joyce Johnson of Albuquerque, NM; Fuchsa Johnson of Kress, TX; Cleaster Johnson of Portland, OR; Mae Lockett (Tom) of Albuquerque, NM; Mary Johnson of Albuquerque, NM; and Thelma Johnson of Albuquerque, NM; and two brothers Jessie Johnson of Dallas, TX, and Clifford (Ardath) Johnson of Lubbock, TX. Lillian was blessed with forty-two grandchildren, twenty-five great-grandchildren, and sixteen great-great-grandchildren, all of whom carry forward her legacy of kindness, laughter, and love. Their cherished memories, especially of warm holidays filled with joy, will forever remain in their hearts.

The family of Lillian (Lillie) Johnson is deeply appreciative of every act of kindness and expressions of love shown during the illness and passing of our loved one.
