Linda Sue McCoy passed away April 24, 2025, in Lubbock, TX. She was born on September 28, 1944, to Billie Vern and Mary Elizabeth (Warren) Strong, in Des Moines, IA. Linda attended North High School in Des Moines and was the captain of the girls’ tennis team. She graduated from North High School in 1962. She married Arnold Lee McCoy on June 5, 1965. Linda was a member of the Christian Science Center from 1963 to 1965. She continued her education at the State College of Iowa, Cedar Falls, earning her degree in elementary education and was a member of Pi Tau Phi Sorority. She spent her career as an elementary teacher and a science teacher.

Early in their marriage, Arnold and Linda began to travel the United States; eventually covering all the lower 48 states, Alaska, and most of the lower providences of Canada. Linda enjoyed camping and collecting rocks from each trip she took. She was always a prayer warrior for her husband, their children, grandchildren, and their church. Most of all, Linda loved the Lord, was a Christian at heart, and a member of Dogwood Baptist Church for 35 years.

Those left to honor her memories include her husband, Arnold McCoy of Athens, TX; one son, Joe McCoy (Kelli) of Aledo, TX; one daughter, Julie Rike (James) of Lubbock, TX; five grandchildren, Braxton, Brevin, and Brittney McCoy and Jae, Riley and Mia Rike. Also surviving is her brother, Don Strong of Ankeny, IA.
