Linda Mendoza

Linda Mendoza, 75, of Shallowater, went to be with her Lord and Savior on Tuesday, June 9, 2026, surrounded by her loving family. Linda was born on March 25, 1951, in Lubbock, to her parents, the late J. D. Powell and Josephine (Cates) Powell.

Linda met Pedro Mendoza, the love of her life, and they were united in marriage on May 25, 1983, in Reno, Nevada. Pedro preceded her in death on February 1, 2017.

Linda worked as a retail stocker for K-Mart for over 10 years and then worked in Environmental Services at Covenant Medical Center for over 12 years. She retired from work in 2017 to help care for her late husband before he passed away. She loved watching scary movies and working puzzles. She was a member of Free Will Baptist Church for over 10 years.

Those left to honor and cherish her memory include her three children: Nickolas Powell and Rhonda Stephenson of Lubbock and John Alvarez of Greer, South Carolina; seven grandchildren, thirteen great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren. Linda was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and three sisters: Ann Dyer, Kay Baker and Jean Farmer.

Per Linda’s wishes, there will be no services.
