Liz Luera, 65, of O’Donnell, went to be with her heavenly father and Savior Jesus Christ on Wednesday, June 10, 2026, surrounded by her loving family. Liz was born on February 13, 1961, to the late Casimiro Casarez and Eloisa (Mansanales) Casarez, in O’Donnell, Lynn County, Texas.
Liz was a life-long resident of O’Donnell and attended O’Donnell High School, where she graduated in 1979.
Liz met the love of her life, Joseph Luera, and they happily wed on June 10, 2000. Liz and Joseph planned to celebrate their 26th anniversary together, but fate was not on her side as she slipped away to a heavenly place.
She was an avid Mickey Mouse fan, loved to play Bingo, go camping or just sitting on her patio with family and friends. She worked as a transportation driver for Spartan Transportation for 27 years, before retiring in February 2026. Liz was a life-long member of St. Pius X Catholic Church in O’Donnell, where she was a servant to her church by assisting the altar servers and served on the Parish Council Board.
Those left behind to honor and cherish her memory include her husband, Joseph of O’Donnell; her son, Scottie Olivan and his wife Christie. Also surviving is one brother, Ronnie Casarez of Lubbock; two sisters, Mary “Chita” Quintana of Midland and Hope Tejeda and husband Ruben of Lamesa. She also leaves behind two cherished grandsons, Aaron Olivan and Ryan Olivan, plus a host of nieces and nephews and close friends. Liz was preceded in death by her parents.
There will be a visitation on Saturday, June 13th and Sunday, June 14th from 6 PM to 7 PM, with the recitation of the Holy Rosary from 7 PM to 8 PM on both nights at St. Pius X Catholic Church in O’Donnell. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 AM on Monday, June 15, 2026, at St. Pius X Catholic Church, with final rites and interment to follow in the O’Donnell Cemetery under the personal care and direction of Combest Family Funeral Home. Father John Rathinam, priest of St. Pius X Catholic Church, will be the Celebrant.
Casket bearers serving Liz will be Aaron Olivan, Ryan Olivan, Cody Quintana, Johnathan Casarez, Derek Delafuente, Eric Delafuente, Jonathan Ortiz, Xavier Ortiz and Reggie Jones.
In lieu of flowers, the family is asking that you honor Liz by donating to the General Fund of St. Pius X Catholic Church.
