Lois Owen

Lois Owen, of Lubbock and at a young age of 99, went to be with her Lord and Savior on Tuesday afternoon, June 30, 2026, surrounded by her loving family. Lois was born on September 3, 1926, in Hillsboro, Hill County, Texas to the late Frank Moran Neal and Loreta (Jones) Neal.

She married Tom Jenkins in March of 1944, and he passed away in December 2002. She married Wayne Lester Owen on November 24, 1960, and he preceded her in death on August 15, 2017.

Lois loved Bingo, playing the piano, watching the weather, being with family and reading biographies. She also loved to play games, go to Las Vegas to visit her sister and play the slot machines. She worked at Buddy’s Supermarket for 10 years and then at Sears Department Store for 14 years as their telephone switchboard operator. She enjoyed volunteering at Meals on Wheels for 15 years. Lois retired from a lifetime of work in March of 1991. She was a member of Bethany Baptist Church.

Those left to honor and cherish her memory include children: Gladys Owen, Shirley Owen, Gary Owen and Lester; grandchildren: Robert Denton, Jeremy Gonzales, Bobby Owen and Nancy Owen; great-grandchildren: Logan Gonzales, Christian Gonzales and Julian Gonzales. She was preceded in death by her parents; her two husbands; her daughter, Janis Gonzales; her stepson, Lester Owen; a brother: Jack Neal and sisters: Marjorie DeSherlia (Diddy) and Jo Ann Eval.

Visitation will be Monday, July 6, 2026, from 9 AM to 12 Noon in the Oak Crest Suite of Combest Family Funeral Home. Graveside services will be held at 2 PM on Monday, July 6, 2026, at Resthaven Memorial Park, with Chaplain Josh Reglin of Covenant Chaplaincy Services. Graveside services are under the personal care and direction of Combest Family Funeral Home.
