Lonjiino Morin III (Lonnie), a man who lived with grit, passion, and a huge heart, passed away on May 16, 2026, in Lubbock, TX. He was born on February 20, 1982, in Lubbock, and spent much of his life around what he loved most: cars, dogs, and the people he cared about most.
Lonnie spent his life working as a passionate bodyman and painter. To him, working on cars was more than just a job - it was purpose, identity, and a way of carrying on the legacy of his father, who taught him the trade and lived the same shop life he loved. Some of his happiest moments came from being in the shop with his dad and friends, working on a new car, or talking about plans for the future. You could hear it in his voice and see it in his face whenever he talked about doing what he loved and building something for himself and the people around him.
Lonnie was a strong-willed and loyal person who cared deeply for the people he loved. Family meant everything to him, and he would have done anything for those closest to him.
Lonnie also had a sharp sense of humor and loved making people laugh. His laugh was unmistakable, and he had a million-dollar smile that people never forgot. Some of the best moments with him were the ones filled with loud jokes, storytelling, and laughter shared with family and friends.
He also loved his mother’s cooking and was always stopping by to ask what she was cooking up in the kitchen. Some of the memories his family will hold closest are the conversations shared around the table, the laughter in the kitchen, and the comfort of simply being together at home.
He also shared a special bond with dogs throughout his life. Among them were Blue, a long-time friend who went before him, Pony Boy, and Azul, his loyal companion who tragically passed alongside him. Their companionship and loyalty were a constant source of comfort in his life.
Lonnie is survived by his loving parents, Lonnie and Linda Morin; his sister, Jewels (Morgan) Kraft; and his dog, Pony Boy.
His family also lovingly remembers those who went before him: his grandparents, Lorenzo and Julia Martinez, and Lonjino Sr. and Ramona Morin; his uncle, Jody Martinez; and his cousin, Jacinta Martinez.
The family will gather to honor Lonnie’s life with a visitation on Thursday, May 28, 2026, from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Combest Family Funeral Home in Lubbock, TX. This will be followed by a Rosary service at 7:00 PM. A funeral service will be held at 10:00 AM on Friday, May 29, 2026, at Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church to remember his life and the love he carried for his family, friends, dogs, and the work that gave his life purpose.
Lonnie leaves behind memories of laughter, long days in the shop, drying paint, loyal companions, and the determination to keep moving forward, no matter what life placed in front of him. He will be remembered for his loyalty, his presence, his passion for the work and people he loved, and the love he carried for those who mattered most to him.
