Lourdes Guzman, a beloved matriarch and cherished friend, passed away on Friday, January 16, 2026, in Lubbock at the age of 78. She was born April 15, 1947, in Mexico, where she began her remarkable journey through life. At a young age, she moved to America, a pivotal moment that would lead her to a life filled with love, faith, and unwavering dedication to her family. Lourdes was united in marriage to her beloved husband, Luciano Guzman on April 23, 1985 in South Carolina. She was a dedicated professional who devoted over 20 years of her career to Covenant Medical Center in the respiratory department, providing compassionate care to those in need. Even after retiring, her passion for diligence and service continued as she embraced a new chapter in her life; she started cleaning homes, bringing her warm touch to the lives of others in a different capacity.
In addition to her professional accomplishments, Lourdes served as a Reverend in the Pentecostal Holiness Church, a role that underscored her deep sense of faith, commitment to her community, and bringing God's word during prayer services. She was a very faithful member of the Women's Ministries where she participated in all the projects and events both in giving and helping. Her spirituality was a guiding light not only in her life but in the lives of many she touched. She set an example of leadership, often cleaning the church, and she never met a stranger. The void she is leaving in the Church may never be filled, but there is comfort knowing she was one the Lord wanted to see by his side.
She is survived by her devoted husband of 40 years, Luciano; children: Marco Espinosa Pineda, Claudia Sanchez, Rocio Espinosa, Roy Espinosa, Estella Pedroza, Raquel Medel, Edwardo Guzman, Sophia Boman, and Jimmy Guzman; 20 grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.
Visitation will begin at 2:00 pm, Monday, January 19, 2026 at Venue on Broadway, 2202 Broadway with a prayer service beginning at 6:30 pm. Funeral services are scheduled for 10:00 am Tuesday, January 20, 2025, with interment to follow at Peaceful Gardens Memorial Park.
