Luis Ramirez Garcia

December 17, 1932 — June 3, 2025

Luis Ramirez Garcia, 92, of Lubbock, Texas, peacefully departed this world on June 3rd, 2025, surrounded by the warmth and love of family. A true epitome of grace and strength, he left an incredible mark on all who were fortunate enough to know him. Born on December 17th, 1932, in Querendaro, Michoacán, Mexico, to Daniel Esteban Luis Garcia and Isidra Flores Ramirez Garcia, Luis grew up in a family that instilled in him values of hard work and dedication.

He leaves behind a wonderful legacy of love, strength, and resilience in his beloved children: Luis Garcia Jr., Alicia Garcia, Diana Garcia, Daniel Garcia, Maricela Garcia, Sandra Garcia, Emilio Garcia, Heriberto Garcia, Esmeralda Garcia Martinez, Estevan Garcia, and Gracie Garcia. He also cherished numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren, who adored him. Luis is now reunited in eternal rest with his beloved wife, Victoria Garza Garcia, and has been preceded in death by his older brother Alfredo Garcia, sister Celia Garcia Corea, his son Emilio Garcia, son Heriberto Garcia, grandson Jacob Sanchez, great-great-grandson Alejandro Jacob Davis, great-granddaughter Audrie Ann Flores, great-grandson Marcos Jesus Sauceda, grandson Christopher Lee Garcia, great-granddaughter Alicia Ramos, great-grandson Arturo Martinez, and great-great-grandson Alikia Lee Rodriguez.

Luis's journey to the United States began when he crossed through Eagle Pass, where he later settled in Asherton, Texas. It was here he met the love of his life, Victoria Garza, at a charming park party called La Placita. Their love blossomed, leading them to a court wedding followed by a celebratory church ceremony on April 3,1953 at the Immaculate Conception Church.. Together, they ventured across the United States as migrant workers, always with their children by their side. In 1968, they established Garcia's Tortilla Factory in Lubbock, Texas, which became beloved for its delicious food and freshly made corn tortillas.

With a spirit of entrepreneurship, Luis also opened a successful junkyard and raised hundreds of animals, including pigs, cattle, goats, chickens, emus, and his beloved dog Zack, who assisted him on the farm. A man of many trades, Luis was a mechanic, welder, plumber, and electrician—truly, a jack of all trades who embodied ambition and diligence. His dedication to creating a better life was evident when he proudly became a U.S. citizen on April 19th, 1963. He also served the City of Lubbock for many years, gaining recognition in local newspapers for his work.

Throughout his life, Luis embraced every moment, filling it with laughter, dancing, and his beautiful singing voice that will forever resonate in the hearts of his loved ones. He was adventurous enough to even take a flight in an airplane, which his grandson Alex Martinez delightedly remembered telling his mother, \"Grandpa's in the airplane!\"

In the final months of his life, Luis's daughter, Esmeralda Garcia Martinez, and her husband Noe Martinez devotedly cared for him, tirelessly supporting him day and night. They are profoundly grateful for the precious time spent together, making memories that will forever be cherished. As they say, 'We LOVE you, Dad. May you rest in peace.'
