Luis Javier Griego, Jr.

Luis Javier Griego, Jr., 34, of Lubbock, went to be with his Lord and Savior on Saturday, July 4, 2026, at home surrounded by his loving family. Luis was born on May 25, 1992, in Clovis, Curry County, New Mexico to Luis Javier Griego, Sr. and Patricia (Sanjuan) Herrera.

Luis grew up in Clovis and attended Clovis High School, graduating with the senior class of 2010. He furthered his education by attending Clovis Community College.

Luis met the love of his life, Victoria Lynn Hernandez, and they were united in marriage on April 22, 2023, in Lubbock, where they have made their home.

Luis worked as an Assistant Manager for Braum’s Ice Cream before retiring due to his health. He loved to go fishing and loved the Marvel comic superheroes. He did love to cook out and enjoy his friends and family… he loved to cook steaks on the outside grill. Above all, Luis loved spending time with his family and always made time for them. Whether it was a family gathering, a cookout, or simply being together, he cherished every moment with the people he loved. He was a member of Faith Church in Lubbock.

He is survived by his loving wife, Victoria; his parents: Luis Javier Griego, Sr., Stacy Griego and Patricia Sanjuan; brothers: Joseph Garcia, Julian Griego, Iven Sanjuan and Eric Valdez, Jr.; sisters: Ashley Sanjuan, Chloe Valdez, Savanna Garcia and Samantha Garcia; his mother and father in law, Alberto and Linda Hernandez; paternal grandparents: Jose Luis Griego and Amalia Griego. Luis was preceded in death by his brother, Adrian Luis Griego; paternal grandmother: Maria Elena Griego and maternal grandmother Rafaela Sanjuan.

Visitation will be from 4 to 8 PM on Wednesday, July 15, 2026, in the Venue on Broadway, 2202 Broadway, next door to Combest Family Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held at 10 AM on Thursday, July 16, 2026 at Faith Church, 3616 58th Street, Lubbock, TX with Pastors Stormy and Shelly Swann officiating. Cremation will follow under the personal care and direction of Combest Family Funeral Home and Crematory.

Pallbearers will be Julian Griego, Joseph Garcia, Eric Valdez, Jr., Fabian Perez, Chris Hernandez and Jose Arzola. Sebastian Flores will serve as an honorary pallbearer.

Our hearts are heavy as we say goodbye to Luis, a kind and genuine soul who touched everyone he met. After a courageous battle with colon cancer, Luis passed away on July 4th at just 34 years old. We’re raising funds to help cover funeral expenses and give him the beautiful farewell he deserves.
